About

The Weardale Agricultural Society is a small group based in a small village called St. John's Chapel in Weardale, County Durham. The Society organises a large agricultural show (Weardale Show, also commonly known as Chapel Show) held on the last Saturday in August each year.

The show gives good opportunities for amateur exhibitors to take part in friendly competition such as photography and handicraft; the public to enjoy a fun day out (hopefully blessed by good weather) and for sponsors to promote their businesses and to help build the community.

We welcome new members — both as part of the committee and as general helpers.

We always welcome volunteers to help organising the event and/or to help out on the show day and help keep this traditional community show running.

If you.....

  • ... have a little time to spare
  • ... can move hay bales, tables and chairs
  • ... or could help as a gate or car park steward on Show day
  • ... or could help tidy up after show day
  • ... or could help the committee with organisation
  • ... or can offer your help in any other way

...then we would be delighted to !
